What is Workplace Functional Capacity Evaluation?
This service takes the format of a functional capacity evaluation (FCE) with the added value of being carried out at the work site. Conducting the WFCE at the individual’s place of work allows the evaluator to perform a brief analysis of the job demands (including the pre-morbid role and/or any alternatives proposed by the employer) and identifies any areas of ergonomic concern within the role(s). The on-site evaluation also allows the evaluator to incorporate elements of the job in the functional evaluation, if it is required and of benefit to the individual.
Who is it for?
Ideal for individuals who remain in employment and require specialist advice in order to objectively establish and define their functional capacity in relation to the demands of their current role or in any proposed alternatives with the aim of facilitating a return to work.
How the service is offered
A face-to-face evaluation of the individual’s functional capacity in relation to the demands oftheir existing role or in any proposed alternatives, as well as an assessment of the main areas of ergonomic concern, both of which are carried out by an Occupational Therapist experienced in the Matheson FCE System in the individual’s workplace. The provision of a concise report that outlines advice on the suitability of the job role(s) for the particular individual, as well as rehabilitation and ergonomic recommendations to facilitate a safe and timely return to work inan existing or alternative position.
Location and geographical area
This service is provided in the United Kingdom and Ireland by a team of experienced Occupational Therapists with the evaluation conducted at the individual’s current worksite,or any proposed alternatives.
