What is Job Demands Analysis?
An objective, comprehensive evaluation of the physical, cognitive and perceptual demands of a specific job, or jobs. The findings can be used for job matching to the findings of a functional capacity evaluation (FCE), or to help customise the evaluation elements of an FCE. The findings can also be used to add to the referrer’s own knowledge of the job(s) in order to help identify work components that can/cannot be performed, those that require a graded return to work or accommodation, or to assist in establishing goals for rehabilitation programmes.
Who is it for?
Ideal for individuals who remain in employment and whose functional capacity has been established and defined but where there is still a need for specialist advice to ensure that the physical, cognitive and perceptual demands of their role, or any proposed alternatives, are within their functional capabilities and will not exacerbate their current condition.
How the service is offered
A visit to the worksite by an experienced Occupational Therapist who conducts an objective evaluation to identify, measure and document the scope of the job(s). This evaluation takes into consideration the physical, cognitive and perceptual demands of the job(s) through the observation of a non-injured worker performing the same tasks that the individual would be expected to undertake. The provision of a concise report detailing the job demands in a formatthat is easily comparable to the findings of a functional capacity evaluation (FCE), or can be utilised to add to the referrer’s own understanding of the job(s) in order to facilitate case resolution.
Location and geographical area
This service is provided in the United Kingdom and Ireland by a team of experienced Occupational Therapists with the evaluation conducted at the individual’s current workplace, or proposed alternatives.
